About LUMI

WHO AM I?

The name LUMI means "snow" in Finnish, and embodies my mission: to bring light into the darkness

My name is Heta, I ´m from Finland and I'm the founder of LUMI Reflectors.

LUMI was born from a cultural difference I experienced firsthand. In Finland, reflectors are an integral part of daily life during the long, dark season. When I Iived in France, I was surprised to see how rarely they were used, despite the same need for safety and visibility. This inspired me to create a service that would introduce this essential Finnish practice to a wider audience.

CERTIFIED reflectors from Finland

We know the importance of reflectors, but we often pay little attention to them. That's why I want to design and offer reflectors that are not only easy to use, but also stylish and fun.

All my reflectors are manufactured by a Finnish company and are EU certified.

Finnish innovation

Did you know that the pedestrian reflector is a Finnish invention? It was invented by Arvi Lehti, a farmer from Pertteli.

The pedestrian reflector came about when Lehti began building a triangular reflector for his horse-drawn cart. He had the idea of gluing two vehicle reflectors together and suspending them. The pedestrian reflector was born.

Subsequently, reflectors became widespread in the 1950s, not only in Finland but also in other Nordic countries. In the rest of the world, however, pedestrian reflectors remain largely unknown and their use is still rare.
